GrandEvolution is a band that has a lot of
contradictions working for it: Take Mike Gendron’s driving
guitar, Scott Kenyon’s thundering drums, and Jeff Siatkowski’s
rock-steady bass, all of which combine on songs like “Time”
into a sound that straddles the line between straight-ahead
rock ’n’ roll and contemporary emo, retaining a fresh, almost
pop vibrancy. And then there’s Sarah Kollett’s vocals — on
songs like the haunting “Another Hope,” her voice is soulful,
almost gothic, and yet somehow sweet-sounding.
All
these dichotomies combine into a dynamic, engaging band.
GrandEvolution, which will be releasing its new CD, plays with
